This is a cost savings alternative to weld and rivet nuts plus other joining techniques. Fdrills can be used for Screwed connections, Soldered and welded joints, Bearings/fittings, Thread-forming tapping screws, and Tube expansions to produce a thermal drilled hole into thin walled material. When working with thin-walled materials, you often find yourself confronted with the problem that it is only possible to make 1-2 threads.
Generally speaking, this number of threads is not sufficient for supporting a load. In the past, the solution to this problem was to use rivets, weld or clinch nuts. Every practioner is well aware of the drawbacks of these traditional joining techniques.
