The Fdrill method is used where the material thickness is not sufficient to fit in enough threads, as well as to produce sleeve bushing for bearings.
Conventional pillar drills or NC and CNC machining centres can be used.
The advantages: different materials can be processed such as steel, stainless steel, steel alloys, aluminium, brass, copper chipless process - no waste! rapid production thanks to cycle times of 2-6 sec. bushing length can gain up to 3 times the thickness of the original material extremely precise low deviation from tolerances high extraction forces and torques economical thanks to low amortization costs Savings! Inserting rivets, welding and pressing nuts
The Fdrill process
The rotating Fdrill is applied under pressure directly to the component. Frictional heat is generated which softens and deforms the material. In the course of Flowdrilling, some of the material initially escapes upwards, while the main amount flows in the feed direction and a bushing is formed.
The bushing can reach an overall length of up to 3 times the original material thickness.
This bushing can be used as a bearing - in a 2nd step, enough thread turns can be cut in it to form a stable thread pitch with high resistance to extraction.
